Volunteer Opportunities
There are always opportunities to volunteer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Readers: Every Sunday a member of the congregation reads two biblical texts from the lectern at the front of the church.
Ushers: Every Sunday we like to have two ushers to hand out bulletins and collect the offering. On Communion Sundays, the ushers also assist in directing people to the altar.
Refreshments: The Church provides coffee, juice, and milk, but we greatly appreciate having our church members bring everything from muffins, cookies, cake, fruit, or deli items, whatever they would like to serve after worship.
Flowers: Every Sunday we would like to have a floral arrangement at the front of the church and on the piano/organ. We are very pleased when church members sign-up to provide these arrange-
ments, either from their own gardens or from the local florist shop. Often these arrangements are in honor of a wedding anniversary or in memory of someone special in the life of the Church member.
Church Council: Go to “Church Council” for information.
Summer Day Camp: We are fortunate to have Church members volunteer to assist us at the camp for whatever time they can – either part of a day or a whole day, and for however many days they are available. We also need cookies for "snack time" each day, either home-baked or purchased. The cookies may be left in the basement kitchen. Day Camp is held the first week of August. Go to "Summer Day Camp" for more information.
St. Paul's Lutheran Women: These ladies do a number of charitable projects you can assist with. Click here to go to their page on our website. Projects include quilting, school and health kits, care boxes for college students and the military, the Bethel Institute, and our local schools.
Lenten Soup Suppers: During the five weeks of Lent, Church members provide soup, bread and dessert before the Wednesday evening worship. Traditionally the Church invites the congregation of the Community Presbyterian Church to join us, but anyone is welcome to attend. The supper begins at 6:00 p.m., and worship is at 7:00 p.m. The liturgy for worship is the "Holden Evening Service," a service set to music and led by one or both of our pianists. Go to "Lenten Soup Suppers" for more information.
Free Food Give-Away: Church members help set-up and distribute food at this annual event sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Second Harvest Inland Northwest. This will be the fourth year St. Paul's Lutheran Church participated in this program. Last year 8,000 pounds of food were given to families in need.
Maintenance Projects: Handy with a hammer? Know how to lay cement? Ever done any electrical wiring or plumbing? We try to handle Church projects within the congregation, and we are very fortunate to have so many talented and willing people as members of our Church. Go to Maintenance Projects to see some of the things we have accomplished together.
