Pastor Shine has been with us now for 11 years!

David Lance Shine (also known as "Spike"), is the Pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.  Originally from Richland, Washington, he attended Pacific Lutheran University, Spanaway, WA, graduating in 1968 with a BA degree.  His undergraduate studies were in Psychology and Sociology. Before entering the seminary, Pastor Shine worked in Richland for Computer Sciences Corporation as a computer programmer and later, as a business systems designer for Atlantic Richfield Hanford Company.  He attended Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in 1976.  He also completed a year's residency at the Wilder Child Guidance Clinic in St. Paul, and a full year of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).

Pastor Shine has served five different parishes in Wisconsin and Washington State.  Prior to coming to St. Paul's, he worked as a Chaplain at both Holy Family Hospital (three years) and Sacred Heart Medical Center (eight years) in Spokane, Washington.  Spike has two children, Kirsten (Rockton, IL) and William Patrick (Byron, IL); six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  On September 10, 2009, Patrick & Linda presented him with Emma Renee Shine, his fourth granddaughter.  Pastor Shine has been with St. Paul's Lutheran Church since January 2001.  He is currently a pastoral interviewer for the Board of Ministry.  Spike likes to play the guitar, occasionally paints and plays golf, and every cat in the neighborhood knows where to go if they are down and out and need a meal or some TLC.

Spike and Golda Schrader were married on September 9, 2010 in Richland, WA.  The entire congregation wishes them a happy life together.
