Frequently Asked Questions

BaptismsBaptism is a Sacrament in the Lutheran Church.  It is a "means of grace" whereby God forgives our sins and receives us as his child and a member of his family.  God is the actor in the Sacraments, we are the recipients of his gifts.  Infant baptism is practiced in our Church, as well as adults.  God has chosen the common element of water for baptism, which is poured onto the forehead with the words, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."  Baptism is offered after consultation with the Pastor and is usually performed during congregational worship.

CommunionCommunion, or the Lord's Supper, is a Sacrament in the Lutheran Church.  It is also a "means" of God's grace whereby sins are forgiven.  We believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in this Sacrament.  The elements of bread and wine, when received, are the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  In this Sacrament, Christ personally nourishes us spiritually by sharing himself.  At St. Paul's, everyone is invited to receive Communion, young or old.

ConfirmationConfirmation is a two-year study with the Pastor.  The first year we study both the Old and New Testaments.  The second year we study Luther's Small Catechism.  Confirmation is open to 7th and 8th graders or those wanting a refresher.

Church Membership:  Just show up.  St. Paul's is open to all people from all walks of life.  You are a member if you are baptized and desire to practice your faith by worshiping with us.  If you have questions, please ask the Pastor.
